US President Trump announced that “Obamacare is death” as he gave a statement on his plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act, while speaking in Washington DC, on Monday.
“Every pledge that Washington Democrats made to pass that bill turned out to be a lie. It was a big, fat, ugly lie,” claimed Trump.
The president also attacked the Democrats for “zero help” on replacing the health bill, saying that Senate Republicans are “very close” to repealing and replacing Obamacare.
President urged Republicans to support Tuesday’s healthcare vote, calling on legislators to keep their promise and end “the horrible disaster known as Obamacare”.
The speech comes after the president stated that he would allow the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, to ‘fail’ rather than repealing and replacing the legislation. The climbdown came after several Republican senators signalled their opposition to Trump’s Better Care Reconciliation Act (BCRA).
