The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany, Thomas de Maizière proposed to adopt a bill providing an opportunity for law enforcement agencies to monitor the exchange of information in messengers, the German edition of Die Zeit reported on Wednesday.

“It can not be that there is virtually a sphere free from tracing crimes,” he said after a meeting of the heads of the Interior Ministry in Dresden (Saxony).

According to him, special services should have the opportunity to identify relevant information in messengers to prevent terrorist attacks.

The minister explained that this will require specialized tracking programs, through which it will be possible to read the messages of suspects.
