The police of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo” detained two teenagers 17 and 20 years old of Serb nationality for graffiti “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia.” They are accused of inciting intolerance.
According to local media, graffiti in the village of Plemenity appeared in April.
According to the “Kosovo authorities”, this statement is a kindling of intolerance on the national and religious grounds. With respect to the detained, proceedings have been initiated.
It is noteworthy that the real names of the detainees were immediately published in the Kosovo Albanian media. The Serbian Chancellery for Kosovo and Metohija commented on this case, urging the authorities in Pristina not to touch Serbian children, and expressed concern over the publication of their names.
“If Pristina really does deal with interethnic reconciliation, let them tackle the calls for violence against the Serbian population, which also took place this week”, the statement said.
Kosovo declared independence unilaterally in 2008. According to the Constitution of Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija is its autonomous region.
