Washington, DC. Russian and American diplomatic counterparts are putting together the first meeting on President Donald Trump and Russian Federation President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The two leaders are expected to meet in person for negotiations in May.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump may meet for the first time at the end of May,Russian news reports citing sources from the governments of both countries.

Moscow and Washington are presently negotiating to organize a meeting at the end of May in one of the European countries. The publication’s sources specified that the schedule for a meeting of the presidents began after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s visit to Moscow in mid-April.

Trump will be in Europe from May 25 to 27. He will attend the NATO summit in Brussels and the G7 summit in Italy. After that, as the newspaper writes, the American president will travel to one of the european countries, to which Putin will then fly.

The American side stated that it must be carefully worked out, but without specific parameters, leading many to wonder if the meeting will take place, with Americans playing games with the details of the get together.

The Press Secretary for the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on this information, told TASS news agency that there is no specific groundwork for the organization of the meeting.

Trump and Putin have not met since Trump’s Inauguration on January 20. However, their first telephone conversation took place in late January. The politicians discussed the situation in Ukraine and Syria, as well as the fight against international terrorism. The parties did not raise the issue of sanctions and contact since has been highly limited as the relationship has fallen to its lowest point in modern history.

While a true summit of the two leaders is needed, it must be left in the category of a maybe, given that Trump frequently changes his mind and has virtually changed his postion to polar opposites on issues since assumption of power in January of 2017.
