All delegations that took part in the previous round of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva have confirmed their participation in the upcoming round due to begin on March 23, U.N. spokesperson in Geneva Alessandra Vellucci said on Tuesday.
The previous round was attended by delegations of the Syrian government and the opposition’s Cairo, Moscow and Riyadh platforms.
According to Vellucci, United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura will not be in Geneva on March 23, so bilateral meetings with the delegations will be conducted by his deputy, Ramzi Izz Eddin Ramzi. De Mistura will meet with the delegations on the following day.
Apart from that, the United Nations Syria envoy will hold consultations in Ankara and Moscow in the coming days as part of preparations for the Geneva talks, she said. Similar consultations have been recently held in Riyadh.
