Theresa May is so eager to be the first world leader to meet President Donald Trump she’s reportedly ordered a secret plan to fly her out to Washington DC next week.
The Prime Minister has reportedly hatched a plan to jet to the States on Thursday, much earlier than was previously expected.
According to the Telegraph , Mrs May’s hurried trip was organised at the urging of Trump’s chief strategiest, the former far-right website boss Steve Bannon.
He’s understood to be keen for the pair to have a ‘Reagan and Thatcher-style’ relationship.
She’s expected to travel to the States for two days, and will hold meetings with Trump in the Oval Office.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister said she was confident the special relationship would endure with Donald Trump in the White House.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Mrs May revealed she had not watched the inauguration as she was on a visit to her Maidenhead constituency.
