Thirteen soldiers were killed and 48 were wounded in a car bomb attack on a bus transporting off-duty personnel in the Turkish city of Kayseri Saturday, the military said in a statement.

The wounded were transported to hospital for care and civilians may have also been injured in the attack, it said.

The blast occurred as the bus passed by a car believed to be packed with explosives, Turkey’s Dogan news agency said.

It happened near a bus stop at the campus of Erciyes University in Kayseri, broadcaster NTV reported.
