“Yes, such a conversation is planned,” Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, has told TASS.

Erdogan said earlier in the day that he would discuss the situation in Syria’s Aleppo with Putin in the evening. “Agreements on the cessation of hostilities were finally reached after intense talks yesterday, but now we can see that, unfortunately, the hostilities resumed in the morning,” he said addressing regional leaders in Ankara. “We are closely following the situation in Aleppo, and in the evening I will hold talks with Putin over the phone. I hope we will be able to achieve results.”

The Russian president is to hold a number of telephone conversations later on Wednesday. In the evening he will fly to Japan to pay a two-day visit there.
