“Russian military base in the Balkans” – that’s how exactly the Western media calls the Russian centre in Serbia, even though its purpose is purely humanitarian. In particular, EMERCOM saved hundreds of people during floods in Serbia and brought assistance to affected citizens.

Also by virtue of this centre, Russian rescuers help not only Serbia, but also other Balkan countries: the Republic of Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.

The Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Centre was established on April 25, 2012 in the city of Nis, on the basis of Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and Republic of Serbia.
