The Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard had another successful weekend in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus, capturing several sites that were under the control of Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam).

Backed by heavy artillery, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade managed to break-through Jaysh Al-Islam’s last-line of defense at Tal Sawwan, forcing the aforementioned Islamist group to withdraw to the nearby village of Tal Kurdi.

Following their withdrawal to Tal Kurdi, Jaysh Al-Islam attempted to fortify their weak defenses at this town before the Syrian Armed Forces launched their swift attack; however, this would not matter because the government units would overrun their positions on Sunday afternoon.

The next target for the Syrian Armed Forces will likely be the southeastern sector of the East Ghouta; this farmland will open up Douma’s southern flank.
