Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said the Kremlin expects the western partners will put pressures on Poroshenko to persuade him to comply with the Minsk Accords. He was speaking in the wake of the Ukrainian leader’s calls for stepping up sanctions on Russia.

“We expect that our European allies and counterparts in Washington will use the forthcoming contacts with the Ukrainian president in order to go ahead with painstaking work to persuade him to comply with Kiev’s obligations under the Minsk Accords,” Peskov said.
Referring to Poroshenko’s calls to intensify the sanctions pressure on Moscow, the Kremlin spokesman noted that there is nothing new in this statement, reports TASS.

“This call is repeated regularly, there are no new elements here. This is repeated with enviable regularity,” he said. Peskov noted that the sanctions issue was not Kremlin’s competence.
