Some 48 people were wounded when a bomb-laden vehicle exploded near the governor’s office and the headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in South-eastern Turkey’s Van province on Monday.
The vehicle exploded at 10.50am local time (07.50GMT) near the police station, injuring 48 people, including two police officers, the Van governor’s office has confirmed, as quoted by Anadolu news Agency.
Two of the injured were in critical condition, Van police chief Suat Ekici said earlier.
The blast caused heavy damage to the AK Party building and a nearby hotel. Windows of nearby houses and storefronts were also shattered in the blast.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze caused by the explosion.
