Sappers have carried out a controlled explosion near the road where cyclists were competing in the men’s road race at 2016 Olympics in Brazil’s Rio.

A suspect device resembling a bomb was found at the finishing meters of the race. The organizers phoned for sappers. Police cordoned off the area. A special operation is underway but the device is not reported yet to be identified as a bomb.

On August 6, road cyclists competed in the men’s 237.5 kilometer road race, with two Russiam athletes among them – Sergei Chernetski and Pavel Kochetkov.

The 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro are scheduled from August 5 through August 21.
