French National Assembly member and ex-Transport Minister Thierry Mariani has said he is alarmed by US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s aggressive rhetoric.

“You know, I am very concerned about the aggressive rhetoric of the Democratic candidate,” Mariani said on Thursday at the meeting with Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin.

“When I see the results of the (last) NATO summit, when I hear Mrs Clinton’s statements, I think that we hardly need another factor of tensions in Europe,” he added.

Commenting on US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s statements that he is ready to consider lifting sanctions against Russia if elected president, Mariani noted that “any sensible politician understands that these sanctions are meaningless.”
