NATO will seek constructive dialogue with Russia, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Friday opening the Warsaw Summit Experts’ Forum – NATO in Defense of Peace: 2016 and Beyond.
“Our position is clear – NATO does not seek confrontation, we don’t want a new Cold War,” Stoltenberg said. “We will continue to seek constructive and meaningful dialogue with Russia,” he added.
“We did not suspend political dialogue with Russia, actually we decided to keep the channels for political dialogue open and we decided to maintain the NATO Russia Council as a tool, as a platform for political dialogue with Russia,” the secretary general said.
Russian Ambassador to NATO Alexander Grushko earlier confirmed that the next session of the Russia-NATO Council is to be held on July 13 at the ambassadorial level.
