“Montenegro have marked an important step on its path to membership in NATO on Monday, starting two days of talks on accession in Brussels”, – said the message on Alliance website.

During the talks would be discussed details of gaining membership, including political, military and legal issues. The meeting must give a chance to clarify outstanding issues to the both sides.

The next step after those meeting will be the signing by NATO members an accession protocol of Montenegro, which will start to attend the Alliance meetings as an invited state after it.

“As soon as all allies will ratify the protocol – Montenegro could join the Washington agreement and became the 29th member of the Alliance”, – says the message.
