Georgian president Giorgi Margvelashvili will terminate the citizenship of every Georgian who works in the governmental bodies of Ukraine, the Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine Mikheil Ukleba said today.

“The Constitution of Georgia clearly defines that citizens of Georgia cannot have citizenship of other countries, except for cases when the citizenship of Georgia is granted to foreigners for a service to the country,” Glavkom cited Ukleba as saying.

“However, people with terminated citizenships are still capable of applying to the President, who will consider their requests,” the diplomat added.

On December 4th 2015 Margvelashvili signed a decree on depriving Mikheil Saakashvili of his Georgian citizenship, saying that he had insulted the country and the institution of the presidency.
