The Russian plane crash in Sinai last month was caused by a terrorist attack as traces of explosives have been found in the wreckage of the plane, the Russian Federal Security Service Director Aleksandr Bortnikov said.
Bortnikov, during a security meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, added that after analyzing passengers’ belongings as well as the parts of the plane by experts, explosive substances were found which proves that the plane fell apart in the air over Sinai after the detonation of a homemade bomb.
For his part, President Putin said that the incident is one of the bloodiest acts in Russia’s history, affirming that Moscow will search for the terrorists who blew up the plane wherever they are in the world and will punish them.
Putin added that this is not the first time Russia has faced such “barbarous terrorist crimes, more often without apparent causes, outside or domestic,” vowing to find and punish the culprits behind the Sinai plane attack wherever they are.
President Putin ordered the Russian intelligence to search for those responsible for blowing up the plane.
He added that “those who attempt to assist criminals should be aware that the consequences of such attempts will be entirely their responsibility.”
“Our military work in Syria must not only continue. It must be strengthened in such a way so that the terrorists will understand that retribution is inevitable,” Putin reiterated.
For his part, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev declared that all the required measures have been taken to enhance the security in all the places of the public gatherings.
Kolokoltsev indicated that the security apparatus are ready for any complications that would result from the terrorist threats and they have the experience in this domain.
