German police have told local media three people have been arrested near the western city of Aachen in connection to the Paris attacks.

The city is on the Belgian border, around two hours drive from Brussels where police have been hunting suspect Salah Abdeslam.

According to the DPA news agency, three people have been arrested in Alsdorf, northeast of the city.

“We have received indications that one of the fugitives related [to the attacks in] Paris may be staying in our area,” a police spokesman told DPA.
